Who are Scavengers ?
• A manual scavenger is responsible for maintaining,
operating the equipment at any step of the sanitation chain.
• The health and safety of scavenger is always given lowest priority.

What is Connected Technology ?

• Connected Technology allows devices connect with its environment and other
products typically consisting of processors and sensors.
Problems faced by Scavengers:

• Manual scavenging is very dangerous because the working environment consists of

gases like Carbon monoxide, Methane, Hydrogen sulphide in large amounts which
can be fatal.
• Lack of protective gear makes sanitization difficult in times of pandemic as they
are more susceptible to virus.

What happens if the problem is not solved ?

• Many frontline workers will lose their lives and there is possibility of transmission
of virus.

Heartbeat sensors:
• They provide signal for every heart beat. Sensor Layer

• Signals from sensor can be converted to Data Aggregator

electric signal and sent to led devices .

Processor
Gas sensors:
• They can identify harmful gases . IOT Cloud

• They contain high sensitivity and response time.

How does it work ?
• The data from sensors is fed into Arduino Uno microcontroller board, processed
and transmitted to our smart watch enabled with GSM sim card via Bluetooth .

Arduino Uno

• If the amount of any of the gases is above specified threshold, it vibrates and
sends alerts to the designated officials.
• Simultaneously , this data is sent to Iot clouds to be accessed by control
authority from any part of the world.
