• Color: dark brown to light tan(pale abdomen, darker chin markings)

• Length: 59-67 Inches
• Weight: 65 to 265 lbs. (30 to 120 kilograms)(female almost half the weight of males)
• Horn: Big, curved backward
DIET
• Herbivores. Major food grasses. Also eats mosses, leaves, flowers etc.
BEHAVIOR
• Lives in herds of 10-20 individuals.
Gestation period
• 168 days
• Babies:1-2 at a time
THREATS

Predators
• Wolves, bears, foxes and lynxes.
• Usually climbs to great heights to avoid these. Cant be reached easily.
• Small kids are attacked by eagles.
Habitat Destruction
• Lives on mountains but is endangered due to cutting of trees and constructions on
mountains.

Hunters
• They are hunted for skin and horn. Its very negligible as Governments of the regions have
taken measures long ago and still prevail. Gran Paradiso National Park 1912.
