OUR GOAL

To support each child in developing into a harmonious


personality through active participation in engaging
activities in a loving and caring learning environment.
We implement our goal through developing

We help each child to develop these characteristics


by modeling them,
by discussing situations as they happen,
by reading literature,
by engaging in different activities,
by learning during integrated units.
ACTIVE – curioius explorer and inquirer
in personal life as well as anaytical and active
citizen
INDEPENDENT – able to set own
goals, choose and make decisions
CREATIVE – able to see new possibilities, take
on risks, flexible, spontanious, self starter
SELF-CONTAINED – self confident, has
a positive attitude towards self and others
CARING – takes care about self, others and
nature, is empathetic, oolite, nice and loving, cares about
belonging to the Republic of Latvia
COLLABORATIVE – able to compromise,
responsible, communicative, friendly, able to take pride in
other people’s achievements

We believe that each student is constructing its own
understanding therefore, our students are actively
exploring the world through a wide range of
activities, supported by our teachers. Individual
development of each student, based on its talents, is
our goal.
Talents are further explored during extra activities
in ceramics, yoga, modern dance, swimming,
English and Russian.

Learning is connected with nature’s cycle, preschool
traditions and student’s real life and interests.
Each month students explore an important idea
through integrated units of learning where learning
using mathematics, language, arts, science, social
studies, music, sports, drama helps students to
understand the world, to acquire skills and
knowledge necessary to express themselves
creatively.
Theme: Birds of Latvia

Main idea: Migration of birds is determined by the necessity to find food. English
Concepts to understand: bird, migration
Objectives: to develop skills to observe and describe natural objects; to recognize
birds in closer vicinity; to develop beginning understanding of migration; to develop
positive attitude towards nature of Latvia and respect for the Republic of Latvia.
Unit of learning
’’Sounds all around us’’
Main idea of the unit: We are surrounded by adifferent sounds created by nature
or people. To make sound you need to create vibration.
Free play is valued and encouraged!
Our students love to sing, dance,
move and play theatre. Each year all
students and teachers collaborate to
stage a play.
Music, dance and language is implemented
in each performance
We use puppets and shadow theatre
Children dramatize in their free time
Children implement different kinds
of dramatizations – both child and
adult initiated
Children develop their art skills.
They make decorations and props
We sing and play every day.
We have recorded 2 CDs
During fieldtrips and visits to special
places, like museums, forests and
nature parks, students get hands on
experience of nature and authentic art.
 This year we started a Forest School
Preschool ‘’Maziņš kā jūra’’ has created a warm
loving and caring learning environment where all
members of the preschool community feel welcome
and respected. Parents support their child’s
development by actively participating at our special
events, portfolio conferences and everyday life.

Our annual Fall Market, Winter Festival, Easter
Event, Presentation of a new theatre performance,
Family Day and Playground Party is an opportunity
to share and extend learning.
To exchange ideas with teachers from around the
world and to extend our current understanding we
participate in different projects, like AIESEC –
world’s largest youth-led network, Nordplus -
supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers and
Erasmus – financed by the European Commission.

Implementation of the culture of mindfulness in our
preschool helps us balance our lives, maintain health, stay
positive and be kind and curious.
