About organization EARTO is the European trade association of Research and Technology Organisations. EARTO represents around 350 such organisations across Europe. Its members make a major contribution to strengthening economic competitiveness and social development in Europe by supporting product, process and service innovation in all branches of industry and services, public and private. EARTO promotes and champions the interests of RTOs in Europe by reinforcing their profile as a key- player category in the minds of EU decision-makers, and by seeking to ensure that European R&D and innovation programmes are best attuned to their interests. The association also provides added-value services to its members to improve their professional practices and business performance, as well as information and advice about European R&D and innovation programme funding opportunities. Missions Promote and defend the interests of RTOs in Europe by reinforcing their profile and position as a key player in the minds of EU decision-makers and by seeking to ensure that European R&D and innovation programmes are best attuned to their interests; to provide added-value services to EARTO members to help them to improve their operational practices and business performance as well as to provide them with information and advice to help them make the best use of European R&D and innovation programme funding opportunities. Vision A European research and innovation system without borders in which RTOs occupy nodal positions and possess the necessary resources and independence to make a major contribution to a competitive European economy and high quality of life through beneficial cooperation with all stakeholders. Working Groups To define common positions and exchange best practices, EARTO has fixed and temporary Working Groups. These Working Groups comprise experts from EARTO members who assist the Secretariat in formulating policy positions on technically complex issues. These groups also offer the members opportunities to network and benchmark their services, processes and performance against other members. Eggs without chicken Almost all food industries use eggs, and thus, egg proteins dominate the protein ingredient market. Millions of tons of eggs are needed every year, from which a significant percentage goes to protein ingredient production. A profound change in the global food and agricultural systems is needed. A new approach to produce food ingredients with high nutritional value is vital to enable more sustainable and ethical food production and to find new business opportunities with better price predictability. The key solution for future food industry is to transform food production in a way that it will not be dependent on growing seasons or land availability.
