THE INTRODUCTION

A newspeg is a brief statement about the news event

upon which the editorial is based or an existing issue
that needs to be solved right away.
How essential is essential?

Netizens reacted on social media after the

female barangay personnel in Bulacan barred the
delivery guy supposedly due to curfew hours under
the ongoing implementation of the enhanced
community quarantine (ECQ), pointing out that
lugaw was not part of essential goods. Rice
porridge or “lugaw” and or any food products are
considered essential goods and their delivery
should remain unhampered.
THE BODY

 Malacanang stressed that lugaw is an essential
commodity. Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez also clarified
that food deliveries are exempted from curfew hours.
Under the quarantine guidelines from the Inter-Agency
Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious
Diseases, “food preparation establishments such as
commissaries, restaurants and eateries” are still allowed to
operate but only “limited to take-out and delivery.”
 In response to the issue, the National Commission for
Culture and the Arts (NCCA) has noted that the Filipino
glutinous rice gruel is not only essential but also a cultural
symbol of the Philippines. The National Quincentennial
Committee (NQC), on the other hand, regarded the local
rice porridge dish as “one of the earliest documented food
of our ancestors.”
Meanwhile, TasteAtlas – a website described as an online
encyclopedia and world atlas of traditional dishes, local
ingredients, and authentic restaurants – described lugaw as
“as soft food for sick people.”

part of our culture. Following the guidelines by
enforcing the rules and regulations is also essential
at this time of pandemic.

Sabi ng mga eksperto, matatagalan pa bago

mawala ang coronavirus o ang COVID-19. Pero ang
pahayag ng World Health Organization (WHO)
kahapon, maaaring hindi na umano umalis o mawala
sa piling ng mga tao ang sakit na ito. Ang tanging
magagawa para ito malabanan ay ang makatuklas ng
bakuna. Pero kahit na nga may bakuna, mananatili
na ang sakit na ito sa kapaligiran o ang tinatawag na
endemic. Pahihinain lamang ito ng bakuna pero
kahalubilo na ng mga tao.
 PARAGRAPH 2: (REACTION)

Kung totoo ang sinabi ng WHO na magiging

endemic ang COVID-19, nararapat lamang na
ipagpatuloy ng mamamayan ang nakasanayan nang
pag-iingat para makaiwas sa virus. Huwag nang
bumalik sa dating nakasanayan na hindi nagsusuot
ng face mask, kumpul-kumpol sa isang lugar, hindi
naghuhugas ng kamay at kung anu-ano pang hindi
magandang gawain na nagdudulot ng pagkakasakit.

Mula nang manalasa ang COVID-19, natuto ang

marami sa tamang kalinisan. Itinakwil ang hindi

nilalabhan ang sinuot na damit. Hindi na rin
