introduction
✣ The Pakistan Monument is a national monument representing
the nation's four provinces and three territories.
✣ The monument represents the history, civilization and culture
of Pakistan and mainly focuses on historical events of Pakistan
Movement.
✣ The monument was constructed as a tribute to the people who
sacrificed their lives for the independence of Pakistan.
✣ Construction of Pakistan Monument was completed on March
23, 2007. The total cost of the project was more than Rs.580
Million. The total area covered by Pakistan Monument is 2.8
hectares
✣ Architect Arif Masoud (Artwork by Guchrung) (Marble & Granite
work by Stone Forever Pvt. Ltd.)

location
✣ The monument is located at the west viewpoint of the Shakarparian Hills,
and is spread over a total area of 2.8 hectares.

✣ The high location makes the monument visible from across the twin cities
of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

✣ The foundation stone was laid on 25 May 2004.

✣ The architecture of the monument represents the four
provinces and three territories of Pakistan.
✣ From air the monument looks like a star (center) and a
crescent moon (formed by walls forming the petals); these
represent the star and crescent on Pakistan's flag.
✣ The suppliers of Marble and Granite for this project was from
the company “Stone Forever”.
✣ The marble was imported from Spain and the granite was
imported from Brazil.
✣ There are two main structures in this project. One is the
monument itself with the raised ‘petals’, and the other one is
opposite to it which is a museum.

Four petals
✣ The first petal features the Makli Tombs, Shahjahan
Mosque, Rohtas Fort, Gawadar, Faisal Mosque
✣ The second petal depicts the images of Quaid-e-Azam
Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Fatima Jinnah, Minar-e-
Pakistan, Badshahi Mosque, Shila Tunnel,
Karakorum Highway, a group of cheering people at
Jinnah's public appearance
✣ The third petal reflects, Allama Iqbal, Shah Rukn-e-
Alam's Tomb, Mahabat Khan Mosque, Indus Valley
Civilization, Lahore Fort, Indus River Delta
✣ The fourth petal comprises the images of Sheesh
Mehal, Lahore, Shalimar Gardens, Uch Sharif Tomb,
Islamia College Peshawar, Ziarat Residency, Khyber
Pass and a polo match

✣ Pakistan Monument Museum is Located in Front of
Pakistan Monument at Shakarparian, Islamabad,
Pakistan.

✣ Museum is created to give tribute those who


sacrificed there life for a separate homeland.

✣ The government of Pakistan built this museum to


showcase some special movements in the making of
Pakistan.

✣ The museum facilities include audio documentaries,


books of history, researches and media centre.

pillars
✣ Facing the monument, on the right side, down below the
stairs stand four pillars, one inscribed with the three
cardinal principals of the Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

✣ Unity, Faith and Disciple" in english while the other three


pillars bear the same in Urdu, one on each.

ISLAMABAD VIEW POINT

✣ Right next to the main monument is a circular terrace with


beautiful archways that serves as a viewpoint. You can pretty
much see the entire city from this place – including the metallic
crescent on Shakarparian Hills that has been inscribed with the
quotes of Quaid-e-Azam and poetry of Allama Iqbal.
