Need and importance for any organization;

• This matrix is based on two dimensions: competitive position on x-axis and market growth on y-
axis.
• Almost every organization falls in any one quadrant of grand strategy matrix.
• Firms in quadrant I are in excellent strategic position.
• Firm in quadrant II need to evaluate their present approach to the market place seriously.
• Quadrant III organizations compete in slow-growth industries and have weak competitive
position.
• Quadrant IV businesses have a strong competitive position but are in slow-growth industry.
