Where is the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara located?


▪ Nankana Sahib is a town in Pakistan, near the India-Pakistan
(Wagha) border .
▪ According to the census of 2017 the city has a population of 79,540
inhabitants.
▪ The Nankana Sahib Gurdwara is situated in this small district
(Nankana Sahib).
▪ Many Sikhs come from India to worship in this sacred gurdwara
each day.
Why is it important?
▪ Nankana Sahib is the village in which Guru Nanak (the 1st Sikh Guru)
was born, as this is the main factor why the Nankana Sahib
Gurdwara is one of the holiest Sikh places.
▪ Guru Nanak grew up here, and at that time , this place was referred
to as Talwandi, but in the respect of the wise Guru, the name was
changed to Nankana Sahib.
▪ This gurdwara is also known as Janam Asthan.
▪ Gurdwara Janam Asthan is considered as a representation of the
home of Guru Nanak’s parents, Mata Tripta and Baba Kalo.
▪ The massive, golden main square door is carved meticulously with
sacred symbols and the depictions of various Sikh leaders.
