– Therapeutic communication is the sending of messages between the sender


and the recipient with the interaction between the two that aims to restore the
health of a sick person

Types of Therapeutic Communication

– Exchange of information verbally, especially in conversation with face to face.


Verbal communication usually more accurate and on time. Words is a tool or
symbol used for expressing ideas or feelings, evokes an emotional response, or
describe objects, observations and memories
– Communication nonverbal is the message that is conveyed not verbally or in
writing. Nonverbal communication is a way most convincing to convey
messages to others.
– Paraverbal communication is communication which is conveyed through tone,
intonation and the voice is not what the sayings are saying.
Factors that influence therapeutic
communication
– Education, the higher the education, the easier it is to receive information.
– The length of work, the longer the work, the more experience in communicating
– Knowledge, the more knowledge one gets from the learning process, the more skills will be acquired in
communicating.
– Attitude, what is shown from the attitude will affect the communication carried out.
– Psychological conditions, a good psychological condition is needed to make communication therapeutic
– Situation / atmosphere A frenetic or lonely situation will affect whether or not the message is received
by the communicant, the noise received by the communicant during the communication process makes
the message unclear, fuzzy, even difficult to receive. Therefore, before the communication process is
carried out, the environment must be created in such a way as to be calm and comfortable.
