Summary of Assessments
Materials: short stories and poems by local / international authors (in audio format) .
Class lecturer will choose the materials appropriate to students’ level of proficiency.
Lecturer will provide the link to the audio form of the short story / poem a week before
the assessment. Students are allowed to listen to the audio as many times as they want
to.
Scoring guideline: Use the given scoring guide.
2 entries : 20% (10% for each entry)

The class lecturer shares Lira audios using any of the suggested platforms.

Online Speaking Assessment
Marks : 20
Duration: 12 minutes
7 minutes to prepare
5 minutes to carry out the role-play
2 or 3 students in a group

*recommended for students with good internet connection
ii. WhatsApp (video call or voice message)
*Students with limited internet connectivity can use voice

The types of questions: MCQ
Three Parts: Part A, Part B and Part C
Part A (5 news items/ announcements) – 5 marks
Part B (1 biography/ documentary/ talk) – 8 marks
Part C (1 conversation) – 7 marks

The class lecturer uploads the audios and questions on Ufuture and sets time for
students to complete the test.
Online Reading Task
Marks: 40
Reading comprehension and grammar
Two reading passages (30%)
1 fill in the blank passage for grammar (10%)

Duration: 2 hours

Suggested Platforms
The class lecturer sends the question paper via WhatsApp/ Telegram/Google Classroom and
students answer via Getfoureyes/ Google Form within the stipulated time.
The class lecturer uploads the question paper on Ufuture and students answer within the
stipulated time.
For worst case senarios (e.g students do not have a laptop), students can write their answers
on a piece of paper and send their answers via WhatsApp/ Telegram).
