Civic Sense • Civic sense is the sense in an individual which makes him a civilized citizen of a country. It also means social ethics, the positive perception, understanding, attitudes towards society or community. • It’s the behavior between individual and groups, civility and unspoken principles of society. Lack of Civic Sense • People today are so driven towards their personal goals that civic sense as an ethic has become a low priority, almost a nuisance. • A lot of people assume that civic sense is just about keeping the roads, streets and public property clean. But civic sense is more than that. It has to do with law-abiding, respect for fellow men and maintaining decorum in public places. What Influences Social Ethics? • Our values, beliefs, norms and culture determine our social ethics. Certain behaviors or moral principles have universal appeal and people are expected to posses them while interacting with fellow human beings. Self Responsibility • If we want a change, we must change ourselves. • Civic sense is a belief in hygiene, respect for other members of society, and humane behavior. With such small steps we can impart our society about civic sense and its importance in life. If we do so, we are not only making ourselves a better human being but also doing our bit for the future of our country. Civic Engagement
