PUBLIC CONCERN FOR GOVERNANCE TRUST

WHAT IS PCGT?

Public Concern for Governance Trust (PCGT), a

registered trust, founded by a few concerned

citizens, has the capability to mobilize public

opinion and increase public participation and

activism towards creating more transparent and

efficient governance.
WHAT DOES PCGT DO?
PCGT works to ensure enactment of laws and

policies, which promote honesty, transparency

and accountability in governance. It takes up

causes which affect large segments of society,

especially the middle classes, and it promotes

islands of integrity and excellence among

government and other bodies.

SOME PROJECTS UNDER PCGT
INCREASING PUBLIC VIGILANCE ON
CORRUPTION
The Public Concern for Governance Trust, under the

aegis of the Central Vigilance Commission, and in

partnership with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB),

Maharashtra and the Central Bureau of Investigation

(CBI) has been organizing the National Vigilance Week in

Mumbai for the past five years.

The strategy has been to promote a ‘Joining Hands

against Corruption’ with a ‘Triple A’ approach i.e. moving

from Apathy to Awareness to Action

KUCHH AUR
The project is mainly based on reinforcement of moral values

amongst the school going children through cinema, which is the

most favored media for entertainment. Our vision is to begin a

value based programme for students studying in BMC and

Government-aided schools and NGOs working with

underprivileged children.

Our chief goal is to be instrumental in molding the thinking

process of the children so that they develop in themselves a

feeling of being more empathetic, logical, brave, affectionate,

and at the same time get a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage

and diversity that India possesses.

PROMOTING RIGHT TO INFORMATION (RTI) ACT
Public Concern for Governance Trust has been actively

involved in spearheading the Right To Information movement

in corporate houses, schools, colleges and community groups

by organizing awareness-raising lectures and seminars. In

these gatherings expert speakers interact with the masses and

guide them in airing their governance-related grievances

through the RTI Act so as to receive effective redressal.

PCGT took part in the National Level Anti-Bribery Campaign

which was simultaneously organized in more than 50 cities of

India.
PUBLIC INTEREST LITIGATIONS (PIL)

Public Concern for Governance Trust filed a

PIL in Navi Mumbai, CIDCO, for manipulating
sale of public land to a builder against all
established norms. The High Court not only
quashed the sale of the six plots of land
concerned but passed severe strictures
against those involved and barred the builder
from bidding for any future contracts in
CIDCO.
