ELECTRICAL GADGETS -

are appliances which work on
technology or electronic technology. These are composed of materials
that are classified as conductor or nonconductor of electricity.
The following are some of the basic tools and materials
used in making simple electrical gadgets
Pliers – are use to hold, bend, cut and twist objects and wires
Screw Drivers – are used to drive and removed screws
Wire stripper – is used to remove insulation of wires from gauge
Hammer – is used to pull and drive out nails
Drill – is used to drill holes on hard materials
Soldering tools – are used to make splices and tap connections of wires
Cables and Wires – are the common materials needed in making electrical
connections for the current to flow. A Wire is a single conductor (material most
commonly being copper or aluminum) while cable is two or more insulated wires
wrapped in one jacket.
Electrical tape – is used to protect electric wiring for insulation.
Male plug – is a device inserted in a socket to make an electrical connection

Simple electrical gadgets and their uses:
Extension Cord – is an electrical gadget that is longer than an ordinary cord, it has a male plug at
one end and a receptacle at the other. It used to accommodate extra electrical devices needing
electric supply.
Lamp Shade – is a type of fixture that covers a light bulb to diffuse emitted light. This is usually
placed in the living room or bed room
Door bell – is a device usually placed at the door that gives off a reverberating sound when turned
on
Video - Any smart doorbell equipped with a video camera that sends an alert to your phone along
with a live video stream when the doorbell button is pressed. Video is accessed via mobile app that
is also used to install the device, configure wireless setting and set up alerts.
Audio – refers to sound as it is transmitted in signal form.
Voice – features a motion sensor, a speaker and a microphone, so users are alerted to some one at
their door and can speak to them remotely via an app.
Ring/Chime – the flat bars are tuned to two pleasing notes, when the doorbell button is pressed, the
first solenoids plunger strikes one bar and when the button is released, a spring on a plunger pushes
the plunger up, causing it to strike the other bar, creating a two tone sound (“ding-dong”).
