Curation is a field of endeavor involved with
assembling, managing and presenting some
type of collection. Curators of art galleries
and museums, for example, research, select
and acquire pieces for their institutions'
collections and oversee interpretation,
displays and exhibits. A traditional curator's
concern necessarily involves tangible objects
of some sort — artwork, collectibles, historic
items, or scientific collections.
• The selection and care of objects to be shown in a
museum or to form part of a collection of art, an
exhibition, etc. (the curation of archeological
artifacts).
• The selection of films, performers, events, etc. to be
included in a festival.
• The selection of something such as documents,
music or internet content to be included as part of a
collection or on a website.
