Definition

- They only have one MAIN CLAUSE - 1 subject and 1 main verb
( S + V)
- Or there are two subjects or two verbs and they are link by “and”.
however they are only the simple sentence

Definition

Lesson 3: Complex sentence


Lesson 3: Complex Sentence
Definition
- Complex sentence is a combination of an independent clause and
at least a dependent clause. Two clauses are linked by a comma (,)
or subordinating conjunction or connector.
- In a complex sentence, a connector is a part of one clause. And
the clause with the connector cannot be a sentence by itself. It is a
fragment and must be connected to another sentence.
- When a complex sentence begins with a clause that contains a
connecting word, put a comma at the end of the clause. Do not use
a comma when the connecting words is in the middle of the
sentence.

extremely busy.
+ Even though he is busy, he always takes time to play with his
daughter.
=> Independent clause: he always takes time to play with his daughter.
=> Connector: even though
=> Dependent clause: he is extremely busy
