ICL is specialized in chemicals, developing and


expanding practices and large formulation.
A huge majority of industries, such as metals,
textile, paper, leather, sugar, plastics, rubber,
ceramics, glass, soap, fertilizers, beverages, edible
oil, pharmaceutical, and a host of others, are all
heavily dependent on chemicals.
 All over the world the chemical industry is a
major contributor to the national economy,

Pakistan.

GAPS:
 The export channel has also been utilized; however, the
extent of the same has remained limited on account of
higher freight cost as well as storage and handling
constraints associated with certain chemicals.
 Electricity is a major cost component in the
manufacturing of caustic soda, which accounts for
almost 60% of overall cost of production. Presently, the
sector is being impacted by escalated power tariff and
charging of higher RLNG price which is further
inflated due to Pak Rupee devaluation and increase in
oil prices.

 Nonetheless, ICL’s transformation of its


entire production technology to the power
efficient Ion Exchange Membrane (IEM)
plants has enabled it to reduce the impact
of the same to a certain extent.

SWOT Analysis of ICL:

1. Strengths:
 ICL is one of the best National Level Company in Pakistan
and also the king of chemicals manufacturing industry.
 ICL has 649 total employees across all of its location and
generates $55.11 Million in sales (USD).
 It has a large product length as compared to its competitors
in Pakistan as well as in Asia.
 It uses modern technology to manufacture chemicals.
 It has two chemical plants in Lahore one is manufacturing
chemicals and second is manufacturing products from these
chemicals.
 It also has its own carriage container to distribute the
chemicals in all over the Pakistan.
2. Weaknesses:
Company has its own energy source but it is not
enough for the company to maintain its power in
this period as there is lack of electricity in Pakistan.
The company has a labor union that consists of
many top level supervisors to deal the problems of
the workers in the company but this union is very
harmful for the company that many times it
happens the union leader black mail the top
management with the power of workers as strike
and etc.
3. Opportunities:

There are no big competitors of Ittehad


Chemicals Limited in the market except Sitara
Chemicals Pvt. Limited.
But Sitara Chemicals does not have a large
product length and line that it can compete the
Ittehad Chemicals Ltd.
It is the big opportunity for ICL that it has
competitive edge over its competitor.
4. Threats:

In this modern period Ittehad chemicals


Limited also facing many problems:
Discontinuation of system gas
Higher Markup Rates due to increase in
inflation
Increase in crude oil prices
Decrease in PM Relief (Power Sector)
for industry
HOW THEY BECOME SUCCESS?

Which Strategy they have adopted?


Ittehad Chemicals is a competing company.
It is going towards progress but also facing
many issues. They have no short term plans,
they only deal with big plants and therefore
they don’t lease it or don’t opt for any other
option. They only predicting demand and
forecasting they determine their capacity
requirements.

Market Trends:
Earnings Trend: ICL's earnings have
grown by 11.4% per year over the past 5
years. ICL earnings growth over the past
year (432.2%) exceeded the Chemicals
industry 59.4%.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Market needs more and rapid production of
products and tips, so we recommended ICL
to make their new plant for rapid
production.
If they give space to their employees and
gives high preference to their customers
need, make order according to the demand,
they will definitely reach towards great
success and have a good market place.
