Andres Bonifacio
• Born in November 30, 1863 in a small hut at Calle Azcarraga, presently known as
Claro M. Recto Avenue in Tondo, Manila. His parents were Santiago Bonifacio
and Catalina de Castro
• Andres was the eldest in a brood of five. His other siblings were Ciriaco,
Procopio, Troadio, Esperidiona and Maxima.
• He obtained his basic education through a certain Guillermo Osmeña of Cebu.
• Andres was married to Gregoria de Jesus who happened to be his second wife. His
first wife – Monica- died of leprosy a year after their marriage. Gregoria was only
sixteen years old and Andres was twenty-nine when their romance sprung
• One of the founders of the Katipunan, and became the Supremo in 1895 and
because of that, he is considered the "Father of the Revolution“
• He was killed, along with his brother Procopio, by Hen. Lazaro Macapagal on the
Bundok Tala on May 10, 1897.

Emilio Jacinto
• He was born in Dec. 15, 1875 in Tondo, Manila
• He attended San Juan de Letran College and the University of Santo Tomas (UST)
• He joined the Katipunan; and, at the age of 18, he became the youngest member of
the katipunan
• In the Katipunan he was forced to speak Tagalog instead of Spanish or Pidgin
Spanish
• He became a close friend of Bonifacio and He was considered the “Utak ng
Katipunan”
• He was the editor of Kalayaan, the official newspaper of the Katipunan
• He was the author of Kartilla, Liwanag at Dilim, Pahayag, Ang kasalanan ni Cain,
Establishment of Government in the Court of East, and the People's Trade Association
• He died on April 16, 1899 in Mahayhay, Laguna, because of a Malaria

Katipunan Government
◉Kataastaasang Sanggunian (Supreme Council) – for the
whole country
– Consisted of a president, a fiscal, a secretary, a treasurer,
and a comptroller.
◉Sangguniang Bayan (Provincial Council)
– for every province.
◉Sangguniang Balangay (Municipal Council)
– for every town.
◉The Judicial power of KKK was exercised by the
Sangguniang Hukuman (Judicial Council)
– It decided cases involving treachery among the members
and quarrels between them.

Women of the Katipunan
•At the beginning, the Katipunan was exclusively for men.
• Women were later admitted to preserve peace in the family, because the wives of the Katipuneros were
becoming jealous of the nightly absences of their husbands and the reduction of their monthly earnings.
