APPLICATION LETTER
also called as Cover Letter

• A letter of introduction attached to or


accompanying another documents such as
resume or a curriculum vitae.
• A letter that you write to a company or
organization when you are applying for a job.
Importance
•The letter of the application is like a
personal sales letter because of it’s
task of selling the personality and
qualification to the applicant’s future
employee.
Purpose
•to attract the attention of
an employer
•to secure an interview
•eventually to obtain a job
FORMAT
LENGTH:
→Not more than one(1) page long or short
MARGIN AND FORMAT:
→Use about one(1) inch margin on both sideS
→Align your text to the left.
→Should be single space with space between each
paragraph.
FONT STYLE:
→Use Times New Roman, Arial and Calibri.

FONT SIZE:
→Should be between 10 and 12.
Contains the name, address contact
number email add. of the sender and date
on which the letter is being written.

-It is the part where you may convey all the
messages you want your reader to
understand.
Suggestions is Making and Organizing the Body of the letter
(Baraceros,2015)
A. First Paragraph- attracts the attention of the employer.
→ The way the writer came to know of the job opening.
(From whom or from what publication, advertisement or
any source of information did you learn for the job
opening?)
→The exact purpose of the writer.

Example:
I read on a page that your school needs an English
teacher. I would like to be considered for this position.
B. Second paragraph - create the employers’ interest or desire
in your application by indicating your educational attainment.

Example:
I was previously employed at Pathways Primary School
as an English teacher relied upon to assess and took after
150 plus students throughout the term. With my robust
experience and education in applying appropriate
teaching, assessment methodologies, contributing to the
designing and development of objective and teaching
material, I am prepared to become an immediate member
of your good institution.
C. Third Paragraph
- Describe how you fit in and what value you could bring to
the company. Here, sell the recruiter on what you can bring to
the team.

Example:
My strong initiative and exceptional organizational skills,
combined with my ability to work well under pressure, please
allow me to play a crucial role in a fast-paced teaching
environment. With my ability to simplify lesson plan in line
with specific curriculum objectives. I believe I will immediately
make a noticeable impact on your school’s education standard.
D. Fourth Paragraph
-Showing your passion for the role, expressing for the
gratitude and then adding a call-to-action(CTA). The CTA
will prompt recruiter to take action to your application
pocket, ultimately scheduling you for the next step in the
interview.

Example:
