POETRY
What is poetry?

-It is a form of aesthetic and rhythmic


qualities of language – such as
phonaesthetics, sound, symbolism and
metre to evoke meaning in addition to, or
in place of, the prosaic ostensible
meaning.
In poetry, the practice of breaking down
a group of text into lines is called
versification.
One of the key elements of poetry is
rhythm; it is a strong, regular repeated
pattern of movement or sound.
Tone is the attitude of writer/poet
towards the poem while MOOD is the
attitude of reader towards the poem.
Stanzas are series of lines grouped
together and separated by an empty line
from other stanzas.
Types of Poetry
Lyric poem is any poem with one
speaker who expresses strong thoughts
and feelings.
Narrative poem is a poem that tells story,
its structures resembles the plot line of a
story.
Descriptive poem is a poem that describes the
world that surrounds the speaker.
Free verse you should take the note that vers
libre, also known as free verse. Although it rejects
specific stanzaic measures, rhymes, and poetic
techniques associated with traditional verse, it
must observe a body of rules that dictates its
shape and sound.
Sonnet has 14 lines with 10 syllables each line
and a rhyme scheme. There are other sonnet
schemes like the Petrarchan (abba/abba/cde/cde
or abba abba cdc cdc) and the Spensarian (abab
bcbc cdcd ee).

Write at least 2-3 stanzas of descriptive poem out of the picture
