 Problem Statement
Smart Lighting System is a key component for upcoming traits in
society. Either in Home or Office, we may forget to switch off the lights
occasionally. At that time, a significant amount of power is wasted when
lights are left on unknowingly. Hence, this system typically feature
controlling the lights from an android smartphone. The main objective of
this system is to save energy.

 Existing System & Proposed System

Existing System :
The electrical appliances like lights are turned on and off using
physical switches. With conventional lights and switches, it is not possible to
control them from a distance. Although, it is not an efficient way of saving
power.

Proposed System :
In this system, the drawback has to be overcomed by controlling
lights and fans using an android apllication. The user is able to monitor and
control the states of each and every appliances with his mobile.
 Project Domain : IOT

Justification :
‘Internet of Things’ (IOT) refers to the
billions of physical devices around the world that are
connected to the internet, all devices are connecting
and sharing data. IOT is being implemented everywhere nowadays to make
life simpler, smarter and easier. Even its architecture, hardware, software
requirements are seemed to be little bit complicated until it gets
implemented with lot of security attacks and network issues. Within the next
five years definitely IOT is going to rule the people and people can’t live
without IOT.
 Abstract

In order to maintain comfort living conditions in home, home

automation and monitoring are utilized. Automation can be accomplished
by IOT. This project is about Controlling the states of Lights by an android
mobile device. The system is based on IOT. The project requires Arduino
UNO, Relay, Bluetooth Module, Jumper wires etc.. and the mobile app has
to be developed in MIT App Inventor. Several parameters (lights and fans)
can be controlled remotely. Hence, it helps to reduce the wastage of
electricity in our daily life and also it can be used efficiently.
