Definition of SURVIVAL

The act of perseverance and endurance in


adverse and unusual circumstances.
3 Types of Survival
• Physical Survival
– Keeping your body alive
• Emotional Survival
– Maintaining healthy relationships, a healthy
self-image, and the ability to remain aware
and assess your own emotions
• Spiritual Survival
– Investing yourself into personal beliefs,
morals, values, or higher powers such as
God, fate, or destiny.

Definition of CONFLICT

The incompatibility or interference of one


idea, activity, or desire with another..
Survival is the Result of Conflict
Conflict presents itself in a variety of forms
several times throughout our lives. We
must adapt to overcome this conflict in
order to salvage our physical, emotional,
and/or spiritual survival.

5 Types of Conflict
• Person vs. Person:
– Conflicts that develop between two or more people
• Person vs. Nature:
– Conflicts that develop between a person and the natural
environment
• Person vs. Society:
– Conflicts that develop between a person and the traditional
norms of a society
• Person vs. Fate:
– Conflicts that develop between a person and their God, the luck,
good or bad fortune, or fate that they have
• Person vs. Self:
– Conflicts that develop internally between a person and how they
perceive themselves
