speaker or writer.
When we use it?
 To describe what someone said

 To reapet what someone say

✗ “What’s your name?” the man asked.

How to change direct speech into
indirect speech?
1) Add the conjuctions "that, to, if or
whether etc".
2) Remove quotation marks, question
Eg:
mark, exclamation and fullstop,
✗ Direct: "I'm tired," she says almost
wherever necessary.

3) Change the tenses or pronoun.
✗ Indirect: Almost every evening,
she says (that) she is tired.

✗ Bill said (that) he can't come in today because he's sick.

How to change indirect speech
into direct speech?
1) Remove the conjuctions "that, to, if or
whether etc". ...
2) Insert quotation marks, question mark,
Eg:
exclamation and fullstop, wherever  Indirect: Jerry said (that) he's going to
necessary. buy a new car.
3) Put a comma before the statement.
 Direct: Jerry said, "I'm going to buy a
new car."

2. She said that her brother is living in Australia.
3.  I will tell him that the shop closes at 5.30. 
4. She has told us, "They are late again."
5. She told me, "I am homesick."
