CONCLUSION
• Silicon oxide nanoparticles does not enhance the rheologic
properties of the local mud (Sample C) but enhances that of the
bentonite (Sample F).
• Silicon oxide nanoparticles does not reduce the filtrate loss of the
local mud (Sample C) but enhances that of the bentonite (Sample
F).
• Silicon oxide nanoparticles positively affected both samples (C &
F) in terms of thickness of mud filtrate by reducing it.
• Local bentonite would not easily replace the imported bentonite
except the physical, rheological and chemical properties are
enhanced.
RECOMMENDATION
• Test on liquid and solid content.
• Test on sand content.
• pH determination.
• alkalinity determination.
• Test on cation exchange capacity.
• Test on the chemistry of the locally sourced clay
should be carried out to determine the type of
bentonite.
• Other types of nanoparticles should be
experimented on the drilling fluid to specific area
of impact on the drilling fluid.
