Which is more

important - the heart or

the brain?
In fact, the brain is simply an amazing organ.
The heart on the other hand is a much simpler organ.
Its complexity pretty much pales in comparison to
the brain.

which is more important, they both are!

Which one can you live
without?
Technically speaking, your body can still
be alive without a brain. On the other
hand, it's pretty difficult for your body
to be alive without a heart. In either
circumstance, the quality of life is pretty
poor without one or the other!

What does
the
Circulatory
System
do?
Circulatory System
-is made up of blood
vessels that carry blood
away from and towards the
-a tube or canal in which a body
fluid is contained and circulated

heart.
Arteries
-carry blood away from the heart.
Veins
-carry blood back to the heart.
Circulatory System
-carries oxygen, nutrients, and
hormones to cells, and removes waste
products, like carbon dioxide. These
roadways travel in one direction only,
to keep things going where they
should.

What are
the parts
of the
Heart?
The heart has four (4) chambers —
two on top and two on bottom:
•The two top chambers are
the right atrium and the
left atrium. They receive the
blood entering the heart.
The two bottom chambers are
the right ventricle and the
left ventricle. These pump blood out
of the heart. A wall called
the interventricular septum is
between the two ventricles.
Four (4)
Valves
of the
Heart
Valves
-prevent the backward flow of
blood. Valves act as one-way inlets
for blood coming into a ventricle and
one-way outlets for blood leaving a
ventricle.
Assignment

Research about :
How does the blood circulatory system
work. Then each of you will report about
it.
•The tricuspid
valve separates the
right atrium from the
right ventricle.
•The bicuspid
valve separates the
left atrium from the
left ventricle.
 aortic semilunar valve allows
blood to flow from the left
ventricle to the
ascending aorta and the
systemic circuit.
 pulmonary semilunar valve allows
blood to flow from the right
ventricle to the pulmonary trunk.
Systole
The systole is the
part of the cardiac
cycle during which
some chambers of
the heart muscle
contract after refilling
with blood.
Diastole
the phase of the
heartbeat when the
heart muscle
relaxes and allows
the chambers to fill
with blood.
