What Are Illusions?
• Warm-up: We’ve all seen them, although you
may not have even realized what they are.
When you hear the phrase “Illusion” what do
you think of?
What is Illusion?
• an instance of a wrong or misinterpreted
perception of a sensory experience.
• a false idea or belief.
• something that is not really what it seems to be.
• just a crafty construction or fantasy.
• It deceive the human visual system into
perceiving something that is not present or
incorrectly perceiving what is present.
Definition

• Involves an apparently inexplicable


discrepancy between the appearance of a
visual stimulus and its physical reality

• Visually perceived images that are deceptive


or misleading
