Elements of a Body Paragraph
1. Topic sentence: topic + controlling idea (what you say about
the topic)
2. Supporting idea: (3) introduces the support (fact,
reason, general truth, etc) in a general way.
3. Illustration or example: (3) gives a picture or a story, especific
situation, quote, etc, for better comprehension of supporting
sentence.
4. Explanation: Sometimes included, not always.
5. Concluding sentence: paraphrases the topic sentence and reflects
on it giving advice, suggestion, or asks the reader to do something.
