5 PHASES OF CRISIS
MANAGEMENT

PHASE 1: ENGAGE all in framing the crisis and get your

framing right.
PHASE 2: EXPLORE the crisis and how to fight it.
PHASE 3: EXPLAIN what you have decided, why and how
it will work, then commit to action.
PHASE 4: EXECUTE with focus and constant monitoring.
PHASE 5: EVALUATE, learn and adapt efforts, as well as
your leadership, as new information and feedback comes in.
"As a newly licensed physician, it is a big challenge for me to work at this
time of pandemic. Before I decided to go on duty in covid ward, there’s
always a fear and too many what ifs. What if i get the disease, what if i’ll be
an asymptomatic carrier exposing my family to this disease. But seeing my
patients get well and being able to go home to their loved ones, there is this
inner force that pushes me to help more."
Mylah Grace Villanueva,RMT,MD
Medical Officer III
Far North Luzon General Hospital
"During the uprise of the cases, I personally felt the anxiety of getting
infected with the disease, but fear didn't stop me from doing what I love
and pursuing a passion with service. For me, it really helps to have friends
or colleagues who share the same passion as you and family who are always
there to comfort you."
Dianne Tandoc,RMT
Medical Technologist
Urdaneta Sacred Heart Hospital
"Coordination is essential in every healthcare worker in an institution
especially this time of pandemic that we need to protect our colleagues. WHO
protocols such as regular hand washing, use of PPE’s, social distancing and
Immune system boost. Video consultation and Telemedicine approach is a
good way for medical appointment. Implementing safe work environment for
employees including planned schedules, accomodations, food and psychosocial
support. Diagnostics should be done as soon as possible for treatment and
contact tracing.“
Jerchie Anthony C Aclera,RN,MD
ER Physician
Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital
"This time kasi, maraming mommies na walang PNCU kasi takot usually baka mahawa sa
COVID, so sometimes they come to the ER biglaan and we don't know their COVID status.
So we wear full PPE whenever there are imminent deliveries. And since irregular or no
PNCU talaga, I make it a point to prepare for a possibly toxic baby to catch. In the NICU
setting, it's easier because the nurses are well-trained and the deliveries usually are less
toxic. Lastly, since dumadami uli ang cases ng dengue. Mahirap kasi Dengue patients are
also COVID suspects. And they are exposed to their primary caregivers. So kailangan mo
din sabihan yung mga family members to quarantine, and advice them what to observe
ganyan."
Justin Ng-Sinco,RPh,MD
Pediatrics Resident
FEU-NRMF Medical Center
"Samin if meron intubations or if pupunta ng ER, kung saan hindi sure if
Covid positive or not, we put on our hazmat suits, gloves, booties, facemasks
and face shields. If negative naman yung patients, still nagsusuot pa rin kami
ng PPEs. Nakaka drain, honestly, especially ngayon, bumaba na ang mga
cases, so mas matitigas ulo ng mga tao. You can see other people sa labas na
hindi na nagcocomply sa mga PPEs at hindi pa rin naniniwala na this is a
serious matter. So sana, in order to stop this from multiplying again, we need
to support each other by obeying and complying to preventive measures."
Kim Ong-Iko,RMT,MD
Anesthesiology Resident
