DENGUE
What is dengue?
Dengue is an illness transmitted by
mosquitoes, which causes sudden high fever,
severe headache, pain behind the eyes,
muscle and joint pain, rashes and bleeding in
some cases.

Introduce mosquito aedes

The two species look similar, with black and white stripes on
their bodies and legs. However, we can differentiate them by
their scale patterns.
The Aedes mosquito is generally day-biting and most active
during daylight hours, with peak biting at dawn (soon after
sunrise) and dusk (just before sunset).
female mosquitoes can transmit viruses.

SYMPTOMS
DENGUE FEVER
01 Diagnosing Dengue Fever

Doctors can diagnose dengue infection with a blood test

to check for the virus or antibodies to it. If you become
sick after traveling to a tropical area, let your doctor
know. This will allow your doctor to evaluate the
possibility that your symptoms were caused by a dengue
infection

STAY IN AIRCOND

Mosquitoes do not bite when we sleep in the air-conditioning. It is

because of the temperature range. Mosquitoes breed and spread
in a temperature range of 25–38 degrees Celsius. If the
temperature is lower than 24 or 25 degrees Celsius, then,
mosquitoes become inactive. Likewise, if the temperature exceeds
the 40 degrees mark, then, mosquitoes disappear as well.
Therefore, it’s to do with the temperature range. It is precisely the
reason, why mosquitoes flourish in tropical countries
USE INSECT REPELLENT
Tips for Everyone
•Always follow the product label instructions.
•Reapply insect repellent as directed.
• Do not spray repellent on the skin under clothing.
• If you are also using sunscreen, apply sunscreen first and
insect repellent second.
WEAR LONG-SLEEVED SHIRTS AND
LONG PANTS

• Urge people to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants to keep

their body parts from being exposed to mosquito bites.

• Wear light coloured clothing if you have to go out during the

Aedes’ active period as the mosquitoes are usually attracted
to darker coloured things.
