Learning Objectives :
 The learners will be able to identify
descriptive words using a writing activity.

 Identify the techniques of descriptive writing


including different types of imagery.
What is Descriptive Writing ?
• Descriptive writing is a piece of writing that
describes a place ,person or thing in a way
that allows the readers to visualize the scene
with such clarity that the reader is
momentarily transported to that scene.

( Simply the author uses details to paint a


picture with the words)

Purpose :
• Descriptive writing helps to develop a keen
observation skill to define people , places and
things with clarity and purpose .
• It also involves paying close attention to the
five senses as descriptive writing always
presents a sensory experience.
