Introduction
• Precision Metals has raised the complaint regarding
elongation not as per the requirements of the received
material grade AISI-316, Size-2.50”.however Walsin found
elongation as per the requirement.
• In the meeting with Walsin quality team held at
13/08/2020, exchange of broken samples with Precision
Metals has been decided.
• Broken sample tested at Walsin has been received and the
comments has been discussed in the related slides.

Conclusion / Discussion
• Received sample has no gauge marks for elongation measurement
hence elongation has not been verified.
• Hardness and Chemical properties has been checked at precision
metals and hardness of Walsin sample found very less as compared to
the Precision Metals samples and has difference in Co and P content.
• The samples which has been tested at precision and walsin are not
from the same bar, walsin tested sample has lower hardness hence it
may meet the elongation requirement.
• It is suspected that there is variation within the lot in the Walsin
material as variation in hardness and mechanical properties has been
observed.
• Samples tested at both labs are from different bars due to which
variation in elongation has been observed.
