Reflection of design challenge (80 - 100 words)

I enjoyed the process of sketching and colouring but I find that the colouring is a bit difficult as
the gate of Nan Chiau High School has a part where there is more details. However, the picture
that I found did not show the details clearly so I was not able to draw it accurately.
Nevertheless, I still tried my best to follow the details so that I can draw as similar to the photo
as I can. Through this artwork, I learnt more about Nan Chiau High School as I had to research
more about the school to have an idea about what I had to draw. I think I did achieve what I
wanted to do which is to make a fan. Perhaps one thing that can be improved is the size of the
fan as I think the fan that I made is too small so the space when the fan is unfolded is limited
which I think can be improved.

Artist Statement (50 - 80 words)

I decided to make a fan instead of a rurics cube and a jigsaw puzzle as fans were invented by the
Japanese but played an important role in the Chinese heritage, which is an example of biculturalism. Since
fans also have a long history, I think it would fit well with Nan Chiau High School, which is in the Bicultural
Flagship Programme and has a history or legacy that is passed down, For example, the motto “Sincerity
and Perseverance”.
