SOLUTION

P#3:
The Rate of Dissolution
 The rate of dissolution is a measure of how fast a solute dissolves in a
solvent.

 There are three factors that affect the rate of dissolution:

(1) the surface area of the solute

(2) the temperature of the solvent and

(3) the amount of agitation that occurs when the solute and the solvent
are mixed.
The solution process has three steps:
What are the three major interactions that are observed in the solution process?

The amount of energy that is absorbed or released when one mole of a

substance enters solution is called the heat of solution and is given the
symbol DH°Sol
