Microfilm

• Microfilm is a regular film of 16mm or 35


mm size. Micro film are used for recording
drawings, catalogues, maintenance and
overhaul manuals. Depending on the size
of the drawing various drawings can be
recorded on one reel of 35 mm film. To
read this microfilms we need a projector or
a microfilm reader.
Microfiche
• It is piece of photographic film measuring
4/6 inches. It is capable of storing up to
288 pages of information. It is less
expensive to produce than a traditional
had copy manuals. It is also easier to
revise any technical information for
updation. Microfiche needs a microfiche
reader to read it. A machine called reader
printer is used for printing out pages from
microfiche.
Computer CD-ROM
The use of computers, with respect to aircraft
maintenance manuals, (and other
publications), has the primary advantage of the
huge amount of information that can be stored
on one Compact Disc (CD).A single computer,
located within a maintenance facility, could
have all the necessary publications (such as
the Maintenance Manual, Illustrated Parts
Catalogue and Wiring Diagrams), for the
relevant aircraft type, held on one CD.
