Need Of Automation in Agriculture

» Agriculture demands increase

» According to UN, the world agricultural demands will
be 70% higher in 2020
» Less agricultural workforce due to increase in literacy.

Sensor connection Topology

• The sensing units are connected in a bus

topology termed as data bus

• A single wire runs which functions as the DATA BUS

Working

» The sensors one by one send data to the bus

synchronously
» The microcontroller makes sure that the data from
other does not collide by using CSMA technique.
» The data is streamed to the remote server connected
through the wireless IoT section
» The farmer can access the data and view a map of the
farm moisture
» The whole thing is powered on solar and hence need
no extra electricity source and cuts down the electricity
bill

14
Price advantage

» Use of wire as a communication the cost is cut down

» The microcontroller used in each sensing unit is
STM8S003F3P6 which costs $0.17 per unit hence
affordable to the farmer
