CUBOID

Surrayya Rafeyfa Farah Fathiya

WHAT IS CUBOID?
Cuboid is a three-dimensional solid shape
that has 6 faces, 8 vertices, and 12 edges. It
is one of the most commonly seen shapes
around us which has three dimensions:
length, width, and height. Sometimes a cube
is confused with a cuboid since it shares
some properties of a cuboid, however, they
are different from each other.
Cuboid has 6 faces, 8 vertices, and 12 edges.
01
All the angles formed at the vertices of a
02 cuboid are right angles.

PROPERTIES OF 03 All the faces of a cuboid are rectangular in shape.

CUBOID 04
Two diagonals can be drawn on each face of
a cuboid.

05 The opposite edges of a cuboid are parallel to each other.

The dimensions of a cuboid are length, width,
06 and height.

EXAMPLE NETS OF CUBOID

Formula of Surface Area
and Volume
• Surface Area of Cuboid = 2 (l x w) + 2 (w x h) + 2 (l x h)
or = 2 (l x w) + (w x h) + (l x h)
• Volume of a Cuboid = Base Area × Height
The base area for cuboid = l × w
Volume of a cuboid: V = l × w × h
Example of Question and The Solution
Find the volume and area surface of a cuboid of length 60 cm, width 25 cm and height 20 cm.

Solution :

Volume = l x w x h = 60 cm x 25 cm x 20 cm

= 30.000 cm³

Area Surface = 2 (l x w) + 2 (w x h) + 2 (l x h) or 2 (l x w) + (w x h) + (l x h)

= 2 (60 cm x 25 cm) + 2 (25 cm x 20 cm) + 2 (60 cm x 20 cm)

or = 2 (60 cm x 25 cm) + (25 cm x 20 cm) + (60 cm x 20 cm)

= 2 (1500) + 2 (500) + 2 (1200) or 2 (1500+500+1200)

= 3000 cm + 1000 cm + 2400 cm or 2 (3200 cm) = 6.400 cm² or 6.400 cm²

So the volume is 30.000 cm³ and the area surface is 6.400 cm²
(even though using two different methods, the result is still
same)
