    A comma splice is caused by using only a comma between two complete sentences. There are five ways to correct a comma splice: 1) Separate the sentences with a period. 2) Link the sentences with a semicolon. 3) End the first sentence with a semicolon and begin the second with a conjunction. 4) Join the sentences with a comma and a FANBOYS conjunction. 5) Join the sentences into one with a subordinating conjunction or relative pronoun. Confusing joining words is a main cause of sentence errors.
