THERMAL SPRAY ALUMINIUM COATING
Application Of Surface Preparation And Anti-
corrosion Coatings In Cement Plant
Surface preparation:
By copper-slag blasting to SA 2 ½, acc. to
ISO 8501-1.
Application of sealant
Heat resistant aluminium paint 2 coats
•Aluminium is a good conductor of heat. Hence it absorbs the heat reduces heat
radiation.
•Aluminizing can reduce heat radiation from Pre-heater Structures, Rotary
Kilns & TA Duct to certain extent and the consumption of thermal source can be
reduced and the production cost can be reduced.
•Aluminizing withstand temperature upto 550 degree centigrade.
•Aluminizing withstands at elevated temperature ( Due to elevated temperature
there is a possibility of painting can fail by performance(peel off)).
•Minimum expected life of Aluminizing will be 5 yrs & more in any
environmental conditions.
•Places of Application of Aluminizing in Cement Plant Pre-Heater Tower
consisting of Cyclones, Raiser Duct, Calciner and Feed Chutes, Rotary Kiln, TA
Duct, Stack and RABH Chimney.
ADVANTAGES OF METALLIZING
• Long service life – some applications have been in service 50+ years.
•Superior life cycle cost- due to the long service life and reduced intern
maintenance.
•Cold weather friendly- unlike most coating systems, metallizing can be applied
at any temperature.
•No curing period- metallizing does not require any time to cure or recoat,
allowing the entire thickness to be placed in a single work shift.
•Metallizing can be cost effective (life cycle cost) in large applications, when
properly performed.
