CONCEPTS OF CREATIVITY
The Concept Of Creativity
Definition
● Mihaly(1997), Creativity is the ability to make or otherwise bring into existences something new,
whether a new solution to a problem, a new method or device, or a new artistic object or form.
● Wyckoff (1991) defines creativity as new and useful. Creativity is the act of seeing things that
everyone around us sees while making connections that no one else has made
● Goman (1991): Innovation is the application of practically creative ideas. Innovation is created
because of the high creativity
● Zimmerer (2009): creativity is ability to develop ideas new, to find new ways related to problem
solving and assessment/utilization of opportunities.
● Ted Levtt (in Zimmerer, 2009): Creativity thinking about new things and doing innovation new
things. So creative is always a trait seeking new and innovative ways is a trait implementing
creative solutions. Creative but not innovative is a waste because the idea is only limited
thought without any realization.

CREATIVE THINKING
Based on Edward de Bono (1970), there are four step as below

creativity
According to Adams (1986), there are several
ways to encourage creativity :
● Recognizing (evaluating m relationships
(relationships new ones differ between
objects, processes, material, technology and
people)
● Developing a functional perspective extend
the function of an object or person)
● Using reason (training and developing)
function of both left brain and right brain)
● Clearing doubts (removing obstacles
mentally increase self-confidence)
INNOVATION

DEFINITION TYPE SOURCE

OBJECTIVES CYCLE
INNOVATIVE DEFINITION
● Technological innovation is defined by the OECD
(1995) as "the implementation of new technological
products and processes that potentially enhance
market share." Scientific research, technological,
organizational, financial, and advertising activities
all have a role in the development of new processes
and products.
● According to Regis Cabral (1998, 2003), innovation is
a new element introduced into the network that can
modify the price, the actors, the elements, or the
nodes in the network, even if only temporarily.
● In terms of innovation, the word "new" is also
important. The term "new" is defined by Santoso S.
Hamijoyo in Cece Wijaya et al (1992: 6) as "something
that has not been understood, accepted, or
implemented by the recipient of the renewal, even
though it is not new to others.“
INNOVATION’S SOURCE
The following are the two basic sources of
innovation:
● Manufacturing innovation has
traditionally been the source. This is due
to the fact that agents (individuals or
businesses) create in order to sell their
ideas.
● The agent (individual or business)
develops their own innovation (personal
or in their own house) since the product
they are currently using does not fulfill
their needs.
INNOVATION’S TYPE
According to experts, there are five forms of innovation:
● Product innovation, which involves the introduction of new items or significantly
improved new services. Increases the function's qualities, as well as technicians'
abilities and ease of usage. For instance, cell phones, computers, automobiles, and so
on;
● Process innovation entails adopting a new product quality enhancement or improving
the delivery of commodities;
● Develop strategies to find new market share by enhancing the quality of design,
packaging, and promotion in marketing;
● Organizational innovation: the invention of new organizations, business practices, ways
of running the organization, or organizational behavior;
● Business model innovation: shifting our business model based on our beliefs.The market
and business determine the characteristics of innovation. Innovation that adapts to the
circumstances permits the market to function normally
● Radical innovation, transforming manual operations into fully automated ones.
INNOVATION’S OBJECTIVE

The following are the main objectives of

innovation: • increase quality;
● Establishing new markets
● Broadening the product line;
● Lower labor costs
● Enhance manufacturing processes;
● Minimize the amount of raw resources
used;
● Lessen environmental harm;
● Altering the items or services offered;
● Cut down on energy consumption abide
by the law;
INNOVATION’S CYCLE
● The innovation cycle is similar to a diffusion curve in that it
expands slowly in the early phases before exponentially
increasing as later buyers respond to the product as a need.
If there is an innovator or a product change, product growth
will continue to rise. The movement slows down and tends
to drop around the end of the curve.
● If technology is not updated, growth will tend to stagnate or
even decrease. Innovative organizations will work with new
inventions that replace old techniques to sustain the growth
curve through technological updates. If technology is not
updated, growth will tend to stagnate or even decline.
