INTRODUCTION TO FISHING

Rearing and breeding of fish in natural or

man made environment is known as
“fishing”.

It has become an industry because of modern

processing and preservation techniques and of

course worldwide large production and

consumption of fish.

 USES OF FISH
• A main source of food
• A best source of Animal protein
• Fish oil is used in medicines
• Fish bones are used to make tools.
• Fish waste is used as fertilizer
• Fish waste is used as a poultry feed

 SUBSISTENCE FISHING

A type of fishing in which fisherman catches fish for its

own and family use.

He used old techniques like traditional nets, wooden boats,

harpoons, rods, or small sailing boats to catch fish. Fish is not
catches for sale and profit purpose.

A type of fishing, which is conducted especially to get

maximum profit through maximum production and
use of modern technology.

Fisherman uses modern tools such as trawlers,

gill nets, floats, engine boats cold stores,
refrigerators and winches in the process of fishing.
