Research Objectives

 Without being clear about what you are going to research, it is difficult to
plan how you are going to research it.
 Research Objectives is a starting point of your research project.
 The research objectives decided act as a guide to the researcher and help
him in maintaining a focus on the whole research project.
 The objectives decided should be specific, concise, measurable and also
attainable.
 The objectives are directly related to the problem defined by the researcher.
Literature Review

 It is an account of what has been published on a topic by accredited scholars

and researchers.
 It discusses published information in a particular subject area, and sometimes
information in a particular subject area within a certain time period.
 It combines both summary and synthesis.
 A summary is a recap of the important information of the source.
 A synthesis is a re-organization, or a reshuffling, of that information.
Literature Review

 It might give a new interpretation of old material or combine new with old
interpretations.
 It might trace the intellectual progression of the field, including major
debates.
 The focus of a literature review, however, is to summarize and synthesize the
arguments and ideas of others without adding new contributions.
Literature Review

 A literature review is a piece of discursive prose, not a list describing or

summarizing one piece of literature after another.
 It's usually a bad sign to see every paragraph beginning with the name of a
researcher.
 Instead, organize the literature review into sections that present themes or
identify trends, including relevant theory.
 You are not trying to list all the material published, but to synthesize and
evaluate it according to the guiding concept of your research question.
Literature Review (Secondary Data)
(Contd.)
 You can do a review of-
 Minimum 30 research articles from journals of high repute
 Minimum 3 books
 A literature review should-
 be organized around and related directly to the research problem you are
developing
 synthesize results into a summary of what is and is not known
 identify areas of controversy in the literature
 formulate questions that need further research
 Cite substantial current and good quality literature
Methodology of Study

 The Methodology is the general research strategy that outlines the way in which a
research project is to be undertaken and, among other things, identifies the
methods to be used in it.
 “Methodology” implies more than simply the methods you intend to use to collect
data.
 When you describe your methods it is necessary to state how you have addressed
the research problem.
 Every stage should be explained and justified with clear reasons for the choice of
your particular methods and materials.
 It should be articulated using technical terms indicating all steps and tools
 There should be clarity in Research Methodology.
 Clearly write about the benchmarks used / Assumptions made.
Four main aspects of the research
methodology
 Design
 Sampling
 Data collection
 Data analysis
Research Design

 Exploratory Study / Confirmatory Study

Sampling

 Mainly applicable when survey method is used.

 Sample size can be of around 40 respondents.
Data Collection

 Primary Sources
 Interview
 Survey (Questionnaire based)
 Secondary Sources
 Books
 Journals
 Newspapers
 Magazines
 Reports
Questionnaire

 Should comprise of only necessary information.

 Write the questions in short and in a lucid manner.
 As far as possible the questions should not be too descriptive.
 Use Likert type questions so that their analysis will be easy
 Number of questions should be limited
Data Analysis

Can be done using:

 Averages
 Ratios
 Charts
 Diagrams
 Statistical tests
 Interpretation of the data Analysis must be there.
 Will encourage you to use Hypothesis and Analysis
Findings

 Present your findings

 It should contain interpretation of results , justification and validity of the
results presented.
Recommendations & Conclusion

 The interpretation of the data analysis forms part of the recommendations

and conclusion.
 You can also add the scope for further research in the given field.
Learning Outcome

 Skills learnt/knowledge gained during the conduct of project

 Research methodology
 Report Writing Skills
 Time Management
 Application of theoretical knowledge etc.
Contribution to the Organisation
(In case you have done the project in some outside
Organisation)

 Contribution made by you to the organization like problem solved, value

additions or any monetary gains done by you
How to write a Bibliography?

 It should be given at the end of your project report.

 It should be given in respect of:
 Primary Sources (Questionnaires/ Interviews)
 Secondary sources:

list, Business Standard, Mumbai
 Page nos. can also be given after the name of publication.
How to write a Bibliography?

 Timeliness
 Efforts
 Accuracy
 Authenticity
 Information sources

Plagiarism

Plagiarism should be below 15 %.

Students need to include the
