A Cardinal Number is a number that


says how many of something there are,
such as one, two, three, four, five.
Ordinal

An Ordinal Number is a number that tells the position of


something in a list, such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th etc.

• Most ordinal numbers end in "th" except for:


one ⇒ first (1st)
two ⇒ second (2nd)
three ⇒ third (3rd)

Telling Time

There are 4 simple rules in telling time:

1. ‘past’ or ‘to’

2. ‘a quarter’ or ‘a half’

3. A.M or P.M

4. O’clock
‘past’ or ‘to’

‘past’: lebih

‘to’ : menuju

Example:
04.10: ten PAST four
01.25: twenty five PAST one

08.55: five TO nine


06.40: twenty TO seven
A Quarter or A Half

A quarter: 15 minutes
A half : 30 minutes
A.M or P.M

A.M : 12 malam sampai 12

P.M : 12 siang sampai 12

O’clock

O’clock:
menunjukkan tepat
jam ….

Telling Date

• Dalam membaca tahun biasanya kita memisahkan tahun

dalam puluhan.

• 1985 is split up in 19 and 85. (You say: nineteen eighty-five).


• Dari 2000 sampai 2009 tahunnya tidak dipisahkan.

2000 = two thousand

2001 = two thousand (and) one

• Dalam pengucapan dan penulisan tahun kata and sering


ditinggalkan. Kemudian dari 2010 dalam tahun
dipisahkan kembali.

2010 is split up in 20 and 10. (You say: twenty ten).


Aturan: Month – Day – Year

You say: January first twenty ten
