• Accreditation is a process in which certification of a

competency, authority, or credibility is presented.

• An accreditation body is the one tasked with assessing

organizations’ and certifying them if standards are met.

• Within Namibia, the Namibian Qualification Authority, is

the body tasked with giving accreditation to a training or
educational institute organisation.

tertiary education institute.

and therefore adhere to the same teaching and
assessment policies, except where stated.

• However the NGIL does not own any qualifications,

therefore it opts for professional body affiliations.

after their creation been sent to a qualifications body to
be screened for registrations on a qualification level.

• It goes through a rigorous process to make sure the

qualification is appropriate for its suggested level.
Registered/Regulated cont’

• In Namibia NQA is the functioning body, and all

qualifications that want to be registered will have to
go through them to be put on the framework.

• Most countries have their own Qualifications

authority.

• Qualifications authorities also work towards

benchmarking and assessing qualifications of other
countries, however most only recognize qualifications
if they are registered in the country of origin.
