 Advertising is beneficial for several reasons. To begin with, advertising provides
people with information about the products they want to purchase. When people
want to buy something such as a new mobile phone or a new notebook, they can
learn about the qualities of the products they need and find out where they can get
the best price through advertising. Moreover, advertising contributes to the
entertainment industry financially. Even though many people feel annoyed by
commercials during their favourite TV shows, without advertisements, they probably
wouldn’t be able to watch them. Advertisements enable producers to earn significant
amounts of money and to pay for all the work which is done to make TV and radio
shows go on. Thirdly, advertisements can function as public service announcements
which warn people about issues like public health and safety. That is, advertisements
that contain public service announcements create opportunities to help raise people’s
awareness about issues like diseases or earthquakes. For instance, the Turkish
government has been running a number of advertisements about the harmful effects
of smoking on people’s health. In this way, people can become more aware of the
problems and take necessary safety measures. In brief, it is clear that there are many
benefits of advertising.
