Endometrial cancer, or sometimes called uterine cancer begins in the layer of cells
that form the lining of the uterus. The thickening of the uterine lining is the
Endometrial proliferative phase of the menstrual cycle. Doctors do not know yet what causes
this type of cancer, though there is that something occurs to create mutations in
Cancer the DNA of the endometrium. Too much secretion of the hormone ‘estrogen’
causes the endometrium to become too thick. The mutation turns normal, healthy
cells into abnormal cells; growing and multiplying out of control then shortly form a
mass (tumor).
Breast cancer can occur in both men and women, but it is far more customary
in women. Certain hormones, lifestyle, and environmental factors may
increase a woman’s risk of breast cancer. Doctors estimate that about 5%-10%
of breast cancers are linked to gene mutations passed through generations of
a family. It is because that everything that we have has been inherited from
our parents during the onset of fertilization. Breast cancer oftenly begins with
cells in the milk-producing ducts, while it may also begin in the glandular
tissue or ‘lobules’.

Progeria
Progeria is a rare genetic condition that results in a
child’s body aging rapidly. A single error in a certain
gene causes it to make an abnormal protein, progerin,
the toxic protein. In a 2007 study, researchers showed
that normal cells of healthy people are able to
produce small amount of the said protein, even if
they do not carry the mutation. The more cell
divisions the cell had gone through, the greater the
production of progerin and the shorter the telomeres.
A telomere is a region of repetitive nucleotide
sequences at each end of a chromosome – protecting
it from fusion with the nearby chromosome.
Leukemia is a type of cancer where the white blood cells crowd out the red blood cells and platelets
that our body needs to be healthy and balanced. The extra white blood cells do not work right. Due
to this, leukemia cells can’t fight the way white blood cells normally do; over time, a person suffering
from leukemia may lack red blood cells to sustain oxygen, no sufficient platelets to stop any
bleeding, or enough normal white blood cells to fight infection. The disease could be caused if a
person smokes, are exposed to lot of radiation, had underwent chemotheraphy, has a family history
of leukemia, and has a genetic disorder like Down’s syndrome.
Leukemia
Parkinson’s disease is a common neurodegenerative disease. Both sexes can have this disease but
it affects about 50% more men than women. It occurs when neurons in an area of the brain that
controls movement become impaired – producing less dopamine. When dopamine levels
decrease, it causes abnormal brain activities. Researchers have too, identified specific gene
mutations that can cause Parkinson’s disease.
