Social Sector Internship (SSI)

Objectives
• Understand the socio-cultural, political and economic factors and
sensitize the students to different facets of the society
• Understand the role and working of various institutions (formal and
informal) in the developmental space
• Explore the opportunities for doing business at the bottom of the
pyramid
• Enable the participants to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills
required to formulate and execute development interventions
• Contribute to developmental organizations by working on live projects
• Understand the challenges faced by professionals working in the social
sector
Approval process
• Depends on the quality of organization and project
• Students have to share following details for approval
• Organization’s name and location
• Name, email and contact number of reporting officer
• Project title and duration
• Objectives / Brief description of the project (not more than 150 words)

• Share the details with SSI coordinator and BMS office


• CDC will share the details with BMS office and SSI Coordinator

• Letters from Registrar’s office/CDC: Write to CDC/BMS office with name, roll
number etc
• Type of host organizations: Not-for-profit organizations (NGOs,
cooperatives, CSR foundations, funding agencies, government
departments)
• Duration: Two months
• Mode: Online
• Last date to get projects: 25 April

Evaluation
• Faculty guide allocation
• Submit a short (1-2 page) description and methodology of the project

• Report evaluation: Faculty Guide


• Presentation Evaluation: Guide + 1 faculty member

• Evaluation components: Report and presentation


(Report format will be shared)
Internship Report - Evaluation
• Quality of the Report (organization of the report, coherence,
comprehensiveness, referencing)
• Approach and Analysis (project / task and the approach to it,
preparations to approach the work, work involved in collecting data /
to complete the task, any mid-course corrections, analysis of the data,
if any)
• Learning Outcomes (personal knowledge gain, results of the analysis,
take-home from the project)
Project Presentation - Evaluation

• Quality of the Presentation: Methodology, Appropriateness, Choice


of research methods and statistical tools
• Communication: English language, body language, Presentation
structure, and Attire
• Handling questions: appropriateness and relevancy of answers
• Knowledge: Industry awareness, Incremental contributions
• Conclusions: Identifies and assesses findings/inferences, Implications,
Aligning the scope with the problem statement
• Coursera courses: to be completed by 30 May; otherwise grade drop

• Last date to get projects: 25 April
