INDUSTRY OVERVIEW

 The Newspaper in India is a proud institution of our society.

 This article deals with the history of Newspaper, how it has evolved from past till now,
what impact it paved in the society.

 India first newspaper was published on 29 January, 1780 by James Augustus Hicky and its
name was -‘The Bengal Gazette’. It was also called as - ‘Calcutta General Advertiser’

 The press Information Bureau give information to the Press on the government policies,
programmes and activities.
INTRODUCTION OF COMPANY
COMPANY OVERVIEW
 Dainik Bhaskar is an Indian Hindi-language daily newspaper owned by the Dainik
Bhaskar Group .

 In June 2000, Dainik Bhaskar entered Haryana, with 271,000 copies.

 In 2010, Dainik Bhaskar entered the Jharkhand market with the launch of a Ranchi
edition.

 In January 2014, Dainik Bhaskar entered Bihar with a successful launch in Patna It
followed with launch of Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Gaya editions in 2015.

 In April 2014, Dainik Bhaskar Group launches online Hindi edition in Uttar Pradesh.
COMPETITORS
Gujarat Samachar : Gujarat Samachar is a Gujarati-language daily newspaper published in India. Its headquarters are in
Ahmedabad with a branch in Surat. It is distributed from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Mumbai, Mehsana,
Bhuj and New York City.

 The paper was founded in 1932, and acquired by Shantilal Shah (1920-c.1984) in 1952.Its first issue was published on 16
January 1932.

Sandesh newspaper : Sandesh is a leading daily newspaper in Gujarat. It is published in Gujarati and was founded in 1923.

 The Ahmedabad-based Gujarati newspaper is also published from Mumbai, Vadodara, Bhuj, Surat, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.
Sandesh has 7 supplements published: Sankar, Nari, Ardha Saptahik, Nakshatra, Cine Sandesh, Kids World, Shraddha,
Action Replay, and Business@sandesh. The Sandesh also publishes Gujarati weekly and Sandesh International from
Chicago, Illinois, United States
INTRODUCTION TO TOPIC
 Dainik Bhaskar Started in Bhopal in 1958, it expanded in 1983 with the launch of Dainik
Bhaskar's Indore edition.

 This group is present in 12 states with 65 editions in Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati.

 Dainik Bhaskar emerged as the NO. 1 newspaper in Madhya Pradesh.

 In 1996, Dainik Bhaskar's goal was to enter Jaipur as the No. 2 newspaper.

 Amar Ujala, is a Hindi-dialect day by day daily paper distributed in India.

 19 versions in seven states and one union domain covering 167 regions
POLITICAL FACTORS

 Over the past year the media industry has continued to witness increased political interest
increase because of the recognition of the media industry economic importance to the
overall economic growth of the country.
 Policy stage Changes of administration or political principles have changed along the media
industry making it to be free than before.
ECONOMIC FACTORS

 In the past few years, the media industry has witnessed an improved growth in
the industry, this is attributed to India positive economic growth in recent
years.
 The growth of the industry is expected to grow by 13% in the current year.
 Improved competition in other sectors also boots the media industry as these
sectors services of the media industry such as promotion.
SOCIAL FACTORS

• Media plays a big role in form information dissemination to the people of India,
which of late due to globalization have developed a high infinite for information.
• The impact of intense media attention has brought about a more revolution in the
social aspect and created a society which is more enlightened and which appreciates
the industry.
• Even though the Indians are known to be conservative and traditional they attitude
towards the media industry are very positive.
ENVIRONMENT FACTORS

• Ever since the development of print, the media have drawn upon, created, and
emitted dangerous substances, producing generational risks for ecosystems and
workers.
• For examples: poisonous solvents, inks, fumes, dust and wastewater have been by
products of printing newspapers for two centuries.
TECHNOLOGICAL FACTORS

• Modern information technological advancement in media is making the


industry players adapt faster to the new environments they are
participating.
• The technological advancement taking place in industry is high and this
calls for increased spending and research so as to be innovative in the
industry.
LEGAL FFACTORS

• The media industry in India is hot highly regulated as such, but there are laws and
regulations which are enforced for the industry to comply.
• However, in the recent past the government has become to lessen to laws so as not
to hinder competition in the face of increasing global challenges from the external
markets.

Research Methodology

Analysis and Interpretation
How often do you read newspapers? (If you read newspaper)

 From the above pie chart diagram, it can be interpreted that out of total 100
respondents 39.3% reads newspaper daily, 39.3% reads sometimes, 11.2% are not
interested in reading newspaper and 10.1% reads only on weekends. Hence, most of
the participants read newspaper daily.
Why do you prefer reading newspaper? (If you read Newspaper)

 From the above bar graph, it can be interpreted that out of total 100 respondents 72.7% prefer reading
newspaper because it provides knowledge, 40.3% prefers because it is more convenient and 32.5% prefer
because of habit. Hence, most of the participants prefer newspaper because it provides knowledge.
What benefits you see reading or watching the news?

 From the above bar chart, it can be interpreted that out of total 100 respondents 77 are saying that it provides
general knowledge, 57 are saying that it increases knowledge, 55 are saying that it increases vocabulary and 1 is
saying that it keeps us updated with our surroundings.
In which language do you prefer to read or watch news?

 From the above bar chart, it can be interpreted that out of total 100 respondents 65% prefers watching or reading
news in English, 44% prefers in Hindi and 39% prefers in Gujarati. Hence, most of the participants prefer to
read or watch news in English.
FINDINGS
1. Most of the respondents prefer to read or watch news through online mode (59%) and through
news channel (48%).
2. Least People prefer google news for reading news (2%).
3. Most of the respondents prefer English newspaper or news channel (65%)
4. Few respondents prefer Gujarati newspaper (39%)
5. Most of the respondent like to read newspaper daily and (39%) respondent like to read
sometimes, few respondents like read only on weekends (10.1%).
6. People prefer to read online news because it is less time-consuming comparing to newspapers and
it saves money too.
CONCLUSION
In today’s competitive business environment company will maintain and attain the changing needs
and want of readers, they can differentiate a company service and develop customer loyalty, helping
to sustain profitability in coming days.

Based on literature review we can conclude that the study find that young and middle-aged
population prefers to get their news and other information from online sources, whilst newspapers
and other legacy print media are popular amongst the older population, that convenient access to
online news for free seems to be little reason to pay for a newspaper subscription.
