Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 2 v. 1-3

1
Introduction
• This is a follow-up on the topic of the rapture,
which I shared with you about 3-4 Sundays
ago, in the sanctuary.

• However I will be looking at or drill down on

the area of Apostasy.

2
Cont’d
• First of all, What is Apostasy ?

• The word apostasy comes from the Greek word

Apostasia, which means “falling away”. The
word refers to a falling away from the truth.
• It depicts a determined, willful defection from
the faith or an abandonment of the faith. (Note
those words: determine, willful, abandonment
meaning you have made a choice)
3
Cont’d
• Does the Bible speak about it ? (yes)
Referring to the return of Jesus or the rapture of the church, before this
happens there will be a falling away.

• Note: 2 Thessalonians 2 v. 1- 3
V1. Now we beseech you, brethren by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
and by our gathering together unto him.

V2. That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit,

nor by word , nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at Hand.

V3. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come
except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed,
the son of perdition.
