Housing, or more generally living
spaces.

• The term “shelter,” which is often


used to define housing, has a strong
connection to the ultimate purpose of
housing throughout the world. The
mental image of a shelter is of a
safe, secure place that provides both
privacy and protection from the
elements and the temperature
extremes of the outside world.

Housing through the
Centuries
DEVELOPMENT AND EVOLUTION

Throughout human existence, homes have


varied drastically in scope, size, and
design. Cob houses originated in the
eleventh century, are made from straw and
earth, and last for hundreds of years. In
fact, people still make them today. We've
come a long way from our cave-dwelling
ancestors, however:  This year, a house
was printed for the first time. For around
₱8,000,000 you could print your own
mansion in 2015.

CAVES
• In the earliest prehistoric era, before Man
knew how to build shelters, they made
use of the natural environment to provide
them with shelter. The earliest forms of
shelter were those in trees, where it
would provide minimal protection against
the searing heat of the sun and the cold
of the rain. Another natural form of
shelter was the cave, which provided
greater protection against inclement
weather, though offering less protection
against wild animals.

LEAN TO

• A lean-to is a type of simple structure


originally added to an existing building
with the rafters "leaning" against another
wall. Free standing lean-to structures are
generally used as shelters.

NIPA HUT

• The Nipa hut, Payag, Kamalig or Bahay


Kubo, is a type of stilt house indigenous
to the cultures of the Philippines.It often
serves as an icon of Philippine culture or,
more specifically, rural cultures.Its
architectural principles gave way to many
of Filipino traditional houses and
buildings that rose after the pre-colonial
era.

BAHAY NA BATO

• In this era, the nipa hut or bahay kubo


gave way to the Bahay na bato (stone
house) and became the typical house of
noble Filipinos. The Bahay na bato, the
colonial Filipino house, followed the nipa
hut's arrangements such as open
ventilation and elevated apartments. The
most obvious difference between the two
houses would be the materials that was
used to build them.

BUNGALOW

• A bungalow is a one-story house, cottage


or cabin. Bungalows are generally small
in terms of square footage, but it is not
uncommon to see very large bungalows.
Bungalows were originally designed to
provide affordable, modern housing for
the working class.

CONDOMINIUM

• A condominium, often shortened to


condo, is a type of living space similar to
an apartment but independently sellable
and therefore regarded as real estate.
The condominium building structure is
divided into several units that are each
separately owned, surrounded by
common areas that are jointly owned.

1. Real Estate is a Hedge Against Inflation


• Though real estate in general is a good hedge against inflation, rental properties that are re-leased every year are
especially effective, since monthly rents can be adjusted upward in inflationary periods.
2. Real Estate Can Be Easier to Understand
• Real estate, on the other hand, involves the purchase of physical property and most people are familiar with real estate to
some degree. Investing in real estate can be much easier to understand than complex investments developed by
mathematicians. 
3. Real Estate Can Be Financed and Leveraged
• Real estate investments purchased with hard money or a mortgage can be structured in ways that are rather safe and
affordable, so that large purchases can be made with a relatively small initial investment

property values and also the strength of different markets, which means that real estate investments have the potential for
very high profits.
