Legal Basis of the K12 Program

The k to 12 program was mandated by law


under the RA# 10533 or also known as the
“Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013” which is
an act enhancing the Philippine Basic Education
system by strengthening its curriculum and
increasing the number of years for basic education
The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12
years of basic education (six years of primary
education, four years of Junior High School,
and two years of Senior High School [SHS]) 
Additional two years in high school.

These two additional years will equip learners with


skills that will better prepare them for the future,
whether it be:
Employment
Entrepreneurship
Skills Development (Further Tech-Voc
training)
Higher Education (College)
SHS Tracks

Academic Tracks
Technical-Livelihood Tracks
Sports
Arts and Design
SMIT ,Inc.,Tracks and Strands
offerings
Academic Tracks
Accountancy, Business and Management strand(ABM)
Humanities and Social Sciences strand (HUMSS)

Technical-Vocational-Livelihood track (TVL)


Automotive Servicing strand( AS)
Information and Communication Technology strand (ICT)
Home Economics strand (HE)
Necessity of a SHS.
According to the law. Students graduated from JHS started
SY 2016-2017, must go through Grades 11 and 12 to graduate
from High School.
and If you choose not to go to SHS, what will happen?
You will be a grade 10 completer, but not a high school
graduate. Elementary graduates are those who finished grade
6; high school graduates must have finished grade 12.
SHS Voucher Program Guidelines
for School year 2020-2021
DepEd Order No. 016. s.2020
SHS Voucher Program
◦ DepEd is the institutional owner of the SHS Voucher
program- as the final authority on policy decisions
and issues arising from its implementation. DepEd
implements the SHS program for the fulfillment of its
mandate of the K to 12 Program.
Qualified Voucher Recipient ( QVR)
Category A: All Grade 10 Completers in Public JHSs
Category B: All Grade 10 Completers in SUCs and LUCs
Category C: All Grade 10 Completers in Private schools who
are ESC Grantees
Grade 10 Completers of this Category A,B and C are
automatically a QVR
Students required to apply in Order
to be a QVR

Category D: All Grade 10 completers in Private Schools who are not ESC grantees
Category E: All Grade 10 completers who completed Grade 10 prior to SY 2019-2020
but not earlier than 2016 and has not previously enrolled in Grade 11
Category F: Learner who had passed the ALS A & E Test for Grade 10 before 2018 and
had not previously enrolled in Grade 11
Category G: Learners who had passed the PEPT for Grade 10 not earlier than 2016
and had not previously enrolled in Grade 11
Equivalent amount of the SHS
voucher
Validity and Redemption

 The voucher must be used or redeem in the first semester of


the school year or immediately after JHS completion. A voucher
recipient may only be able to avail of the voucher subsidy for two
(2) successive years.
 A Qualified Voucher Recipient must submit all the necessary
requirements for admission

Grade 10 Completer from private School 80% = 14000 /year --------------- 3500/ year
Grade 10 Completer from private School (not an ESC grantee)80% ---- 3500/ year

Note: No monetary value is given to the student directly


instead the subsidy is remitted to the School ( SMIT)
