SUMMARY
ANTHONY ANG AND GENE
GUEVARRA
DIRECTOR
The poem entitled “Third World Geography” delivers a message for the population
who weren’t born yet during the Martial Law era wherein we were oppressed as
citizens. It mainly talks about the issues our country was experiencing that time
specifically lack of freedom, abuse, and violence. Corruption as well took place that
period which caused poverty and severe hunger to the people. Life wasn’t easy back
then for just to gain food they need to endure the heat of the sun, the heavy of their
load, and other cruel conditions of their surroundings.

It opened our eyes about how the government was deaf to the concerns of the mass
along with how dictatorship and greed of power occurred. This was focused from the
line of the poem stating "Only the wind hears your useless words", which means that
the government is aware of the needs yet they seem not to hear the cries of the people.
Lot of lives were taken through bloodshed and violence as well as hardships and
starvation. From all those said, we should always still keep in mind that in the end of
every struggle there is HOPE, we need to believe that someday there will be good
coming our way. There will be a miracle that will save us from all our agony and
sufferings.
